Architecture and Style Only at The Soumaya

Design and avant-garde are the words that best describe the Soumaya Museum. As one of the greatest modern works of art that surround the so-called area of New Polanco, the Soumaya Museum stands tall on a great asymmetric structure and made up of silver like steel plates of this 46 meter tall precinct.  

With the objective to spread art and culture, this work of the Mexican architect Fernando Romero houses 16 select collections of the finest European and Latina American art, property of the mogul, Carlos Slim.   

Due to the strict care and design of the structure based on the different cover bases that make the only open space of the precinct be the entry door generating optimal conditions in temperature to maintain each of the works exhibited inside, without having to alter the design of the more than 16,000 aluminum hexagons that make up the exterior.   

The inside covers 6,500 meters in its six levels, of which two are destined for temporary exhibitions and the remaining halls are for permanent exhibitions that, next to the foreign artistic expressions, exhibit outstanding works of renowned Mexican painters such as Jose Clemente Orozco, Rufino Tamayo or Diego Rivera.    

The Soumayas architectural touches are inspired on the legacy of the French Augusto Rodin, of whom  is the second largest exhibition in the world of his sculptures, In the most recent model campaign, Michael Kors chose this museum as one of his stars since it is one of the best places in Mexico City that portraits design, art and history.     

It is important to mention that besides being a place for encounter, and an enigmatic location, for Mexican culture and the world, the museum offers all the amenities to hold events inside, for this it has a cafeteria, warehouses, lounges and an auditorium that can hold 350 people.   

This is how besides being a stage to appreciate art, it can also be a precinct in which book presentations, temporary exhibitions, product launches and the most exclusive cocktails are held.
